The Kaduvettoor Feast occurs on the 12th day of the month of Meenam in the year pertaining to the Kolla Varsham calendar. This Feast is celebrated every year at the Shrine of the Holy Mother of God which was built besides the Tomb of ‘Valiya Ouppan’, the founder of the Kaaduvettur Family. Faithful from all over the world come to participate in the Feast and the inconsolable receive consolation, and the sick receive comfort and relief.
It is very noteworthy that the ancient custom of making an offering for safety at the Tomb of ‘Valiya Ouppan’, the founder of the Kaaduvettur Family. Faithful from all over the world by the boats that ply via Pampa, house boats and so on is still followed.
The Faithful offer candles, coconut oil, coconuts, rice, sugar, and poultry. It is a belief that if one participated in the incense offering and in the distribution of sweet rice-lentils gruel during the Festival, one will be able to achieve what one intends in life.
